- St. Nickolay church was built in 1865. Old folk used to tell the story that a covenant between God and sailors' protector St. Nickolay was the reason for building that church. On one of his voyages to Odessa the Varna merchant Paraskeva Nickolau experienced a violent storm. Scared as he could be, the merchant promised to build a church and hospital in honour of the saint if the latter guided them safe and sound to the port. People say no other church in the whole history has been ever built with the money of just one person
